Construction
Youngtown asked developers in 2021 to propose a mixed-use project on a one-acre vacant lot at the west end of Wisconsin Avenue
In June 2021 the Town of Youngtown asked developers to design, build and manage a mixed-use project on a one-acre vacant parcel at the western end of Wisconsin Avenue in the Grand Avenue District. The town planned a long-term lease and a public-private partnership, with possible uses including entertainment, high-density residential, specialty retail and restaurants. A pre-proposal conference was set for July 29 and proposals were due September 10.
Any construction on a tight one-acre site has little room for staging. A crew still eats on site, and a compact setup helps: a mobile kitchen trailer and a 12ft refrigerated trailer take up little space and leave when the job ends.
Construction
Youngtown's 2021 mixed-use solicitation set a council award for November 4 and a notice to proceed around February 7, 2022
The timeline in Youngtown's 2021 solicitation for its Wisconsin Avenue site ran from a pre-proposal conference on July 29 and proposals due September 10 to a Town Council award on November 4, a development agreement by January 20, 2022 and a notice to proceed on February 7, 2022. The town said it would consider phased development and was open to the developer covering only part of the site.
Phased development on a small site means construction in stages, each with its own crew and its own schedule. The contractor for the first phase often wants a lunch setup that can stay on site until the last one. A portable refrigerated trailer and a mobile kitchen trailer can be rented for the first phase and extended, and the rental calculator shows how.

In 2013, Youngtown's mayor said the town had "turned a corner" as a 33-acre commercial project took shape at Olive and 114th avenues
In August 2013, The Arizona Republic reported on a roughly 33-acre site northeast of Olive and 114th avenues, next to an electrical substation, where a commercial venture described as potentially the largest in Youngtown's 59-year history was planned. Mayor Michael LeVault said, "Youngtown has turned a corner."
A 33-acre commercial site is a big job for a town of that size: grading, utilities, buildings and a long list of subcontractors. Large sites run on meals and cold drinks for the crews. A 20ft refrigerated trailer and a mobile kitchen trailer are standard at a staging yard.
Storms and outages
A monsoon storm on August 9, 2026 left more than 50,000 customers without power across the Valley, many for 15 hours or more
A monsoon storm hit around 8 p.m. on August 9, 2026 with gusts over 50 mph, splitting poles and dropping lines across the Valley. More than 50,000 customers lost power, and many waited over 15 hours. One Glendale resident counted 17, from 8 p.m. Sunday to about 1 p.m. Monday, on a day that reached 104.
Seventeen hours without power in 104-degree heat is long enough to ruin a refrigerator and a restaurant's whole walk-in. The storm hit the whole Valley, and Youngtown, in the West Valley, can plan for the same thing. A generator trailer restores power to a cooler, and a portable refrigerated trailer holds the food.

Fires
A recycling yard fire on August 12, 2023 closed Grand Avenue between 59th and 67th avenues for about 15 hours
The recycling yard fire near 62nd and Myrtle avenues in Glendale on August 12, 2023 sent a smoke plume hundreds of feet up, visible for miles. Power lines came down along Grand Avenue, and the road was closed between 59th and 67th avenues until the next morning, about 15 hours later. Drivers were sent to 51st and 71st avenues and Maryland Avenue.
Youngtown's own Wisconsin Avenue site sits in the Grand Avenue District, and a closure on that road is a matter for the whole corridor. Deliveries have to reroute. A portable refrigerated trailer is a place to hold stock when the truck can't get through.
Construction
Greystar's $500 million Peoria Place covers 88 acres, starting with an industrial park at 79th and Grand avenues
Greystar's Peoria Place covers 88 acres in downtown Peoria and is valued at $500 million, with apartments, build-to-rent homes and 20 acres of open space planned. Its first phase, Caliber, is a three-building industrial park at the southwest corner of 79th and Grand avenues, expected to finish between April and June 2024.
Construction crews on a corridor like this one eat lunch at the site and drink water all day, in a climate where the heat starts early. A mobile kitchen trailer and a 20ft refrigerated trailer at the staging yard are the standard answer.

Peoria Sports Complex drew 214,400 fans to 32 spring training games in 2026
The 2026 spring training season was the 33rd at Peoria Sports Complex, shared by the Mariners and Padres. The park drew 214,400 fans across 32 games, nearly 2,000 more than the year before, as the Cactus League as a whole passed 1.75 million.
For a ballpark with 32 home dates, the concession stands go through food and drinks quickly, and the kitchen team needs enough cold storage for the busiest weekend. A 20ft refrigerated trailer parked behind the concourse adds room, and a generator trailer powers it. The same setup works for any West Valley event with a big crowd.

Peoria's free All-American Festival ran 5 to 9 p.m. on July 4, 2026 at the Sports Complex, after Celebrate America '26 at Pleasant Harbor
For July 4, 2026, Peoria's free All-American Festival ran 5 to 9 p.m. at the Sports Complex, and the night before, Celebrate America '26 at Pleasant Harbor ran 5 to 10:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9. The city's 2024 festival had more than 30 food and beverage vendors and glow items for the first 5,000 guests.
Thirty-plus food vendors in July heat is a cold-chain project. Each one brings stock for thousands of guests and has nowhere to store it. A 20ft refrigerated trailer shared by several vendors keeps costs down, and a generator trailer handles power. Smaller towns like Youngtown can use the same approach for their own celebrations.

Storms and outages
The August 19, 2026 dust storm rolled west from the East Valley through Peoria, Surprise and Sun City
A monsoon storm hit late on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, with a dust wall arriving from the east around 9:30 p.m. The worst damage landed in Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe and Ahwatukee. SRP counted about 17,000 customers without power at its peak, and the storm moved west through Peoria, Surprise and Sun City with wind and heavy rain.
A storm that moves west across the Valley gives the West Valley some warning, which is a good time to move food. A portable refrigerated trailer can be filled before the wall arrives, and a generator trailer is ready if the lines come down. Businesses on Grand Avenue and in towns nearby can set up ahead of the next one.
Storms and outages
Phoenix recorded 31 consecutive days at 110 degrees or higher in summer 2023, well past the previous record of 18

It also recorded 16 straight days when lows stayed at or above 90. As of July 21, Maricopa County had reported 25 heat-related deaths, with 249 more under investigation.
