Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical opened Station 144 at 24th Street and Cloud Road on January 10, 2026
On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical held a grand opening for Fire Station 144 at 24th Street and Cloud Road. It is the district's seventh station, covering more than 250 square miles, and it adds coverage for east Desert Hills and west Cave Creek. The Town of Cave Creek and the district split its operating costs in half, and Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chair Kate Brophy McGee helped cut the ribbon.
A faster response to a brush fire matters in a town where one spark on a dry ridge can empty a restaurant row. Even so, the shops on Cave Creek Road have to plan for the day a fire or evacuation leaves a dark kitchen. A portable refrigerated trailer set up in a safe lot can hold a week's perishable stock, and a 12ft refrigerated trailer fits a small kitchen's walk-in.

Cave Creek Rodeo Days opened Thursday, March 26, 2026 with All Bulls All Night at the Memorial Arena
Cave Creek Rodeo Days 2026 opened on Thursday, March 26, at the Cave Creek Memorial Arena on North 28th Street. Gates and vendors opened at 5 p.m., and the "All Bulls, All Night!" action began at 7:30. The wider celebration includes a parade, Mutton Bustin', rodeo dances, a cornhole tournament and three days of PRCA rodeo performances.
Three days of rodeo means three days of barbecue, burgers, beer and funnel cake, and every one of those stands needs cold storage within a few steps. Vendors and caterers who work arena weekends often rent a 20ft refrigerated trailer to park behind the concession lines, and the same trailer can serve as emergency cold storage if the arena's power trips under the load.

Cave Creek was building a 60-guest Ropes & Reins Skybox above the Memorial Arena chutes, due in March 2026
A donated skybox called Ropes & Reins was under construction above and behind the roping chutes at the Cave Creek Memorial Arena in early 2026. It seats 60 guests, with table seating on the lower level and drink-rail seating on the upper one, and it was scheduled for completion in March 2026, in time for Cave Creek Rodeo Days. The donors have backed rodeo and equestrian events in town for more than 25 years.
A skybox is a hospitality room, which means a kitchen, a bar and somebody who has to stock them. Catering for 60 guests on a rodeo night is easy to underestimate. A portable refrigerated trailer parked behind the arena holds the food and drinks for the skybox and the public concessions, and a mobile kitchen trailer can cook for the crew building it in the first place.

Cave Creek improved 19 town roads for nearly $2 million and nearly doubled Memorial Arena parking
A February 2026 town update said Cave Creek had improved 19 roads for nearly $2,000,000 and nearly doubled the parking capacity at the Memorial Arena ahead of Rodeo Days. The town and Daisy Mountain Fire District had also opened a new fire station on the west side. A summary of the meeting added that residents had attended two wildfire-awareness meetings and that nearly 54 tons of green waste had been collected.
Road crews and parking-lot construction make for long, loud days, and the people running them are fed at a truck rather than a restaurant. A mobile kitchen trailer parked at a staging yard is one way a contractor keeps a crew fed. When the paving is done and the lot fills for a rodeo weekend, the same lot is a natural home for a refrigerated trailer behind the concession stands.

Fires
The Horse Fire burned 512 acres in the Tonto National Forest northeast of Cave Creek in May 2024
The Horse Fire started on May 5, 2024, in the Tonto National Forest northeast of Cave Creek. By the time forest officials posted an update it had burned 512 acres and was 50% contained. Officials said people caused it but did not say how, and Horseshoe Dam Road was closed from Bartlett Dam Road until early June.
A fire that close to the edge of town usually ends with a boil of questions: do we evacuate, do we pull the stock, how long will the power be off? A rancher, grocer or restaurant that keeps a portable refrigerated trailer booked as an emergency plan can move product out in a day, and a generator trailer keeps the cooler compressors running if the power company shuts off a line.
Fires
The Bush Fire of June 2020 burned 193,455 acres of the Tonto National Forest and became the largest fire in the country
The Bush Fire started on June 13, 2020, near the intersection of Bush Highway and State Route 87 in the Tonto National Forest, and was fully contained on July 6 after burning 193,455 acres. The cause was human. On June 16 it was the largest active fire in the United States, and evacuation orders came from the Gila County Sheriff's Office on June 15 and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office the next day.
Cave Creek sits at the edge of the same Tonto National Forest country. For a business that depends on foot traffic from the Valley, a long fire summer means closed roads and empty lots, and the cold storage question is how much product to hold. A 20ft refrigerated trailer can be rented by the month and brought in or sent back as the situation changes.

A hospital of about seven stories with a helicopter pad would sit on 9.4 acres at John Wayne Parkway and Bowlin Road, with 14 standard-care beds, four ICU beds and an emergency department with two trauma rooms, joined to a five-story medical office building.

Cave Creek canceled its July 4 fireworks in 2018 and moved the show to Labor Day weekend behind Harold's Corral
In 2018, with the wildfire danger described as sky high across several Arizona towns, Cave Creek canceled its Fourth of July fireworks and rescheduled the show for September 2. The fireworks launched from a hill behind Harold's Corral, with viewing from four restaurants and bars along Cave Creek Road, and a celebration that began at 5 p.m. Admission was free. In Carefree, the CIVANA resort put on an illuminated drone show in place of the usual fireworks.
A rescheduled holiday is a gift to the restaurants on the route and a scramble for their suppliers. Restaurants and bars along Cave Creek Road had to plan for a crowd on an unfamiliar date, and extra beer, ice and food needs somewhere cold to sit. A portable refrigerated trailer in the back lot can carry the overflow for a weekend without a new walk-in.
Storms and outages
Cave Creek had two flash floods in a single week in August 2021, with nearly four inches of rain near Seven Springs
By August 19, 2021, water was still running through Cave Creek the day after heavy storms. Maricopa County Flood Control data showed nearly four inches of rain near Seven Springs in the previous week. The town normally sees two flash floods in a whole monsoon season, and this year it had two in one week. A ranger at Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area was putting a plank bridge back together over the creek for hikers.
A flash flood that cuts the road also cuts deliveries. Restaurants, shops and the guest ranches on the north side of town have to hold what they have until the road reopens. Owners who are used to this will keep a 12ft refrigerated trailer or a refrigerated container on site in July and August, so a wash-out doesn't empty the cooler.

The north Phoenix Safeway that never came back
Phoenix is about 19 miles south of Cave Creek.
Phoenix: In July 2018 a monsoon storm collapsed the roof of the Safeway at 35th Avenue and Northern Avenue, rupturing a gas line and starting a fire that destroyed the store.

Paradise Valley: Super Bowl LVII was played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on February 12, 2023. Intel's Fab 52 in Chandler is 2.9 million square feet, with about 685,000 square feet of cleanroom. Building it took roughly three and a half years, up to 55 cranes at once and more than 31,000 craftworkers over the course of the job.

Storms and outages
A flash flood warning on September 19, 2025 put water across Dixileta Drive and North Valley Parkway near Cave Creek and Carefree
On the morning of September 19, 2025, a Flash Flood Warning covered parts of the north Valley, including Cave Creek and Carefree. A KOLD reporter was live at Dixileta Drive and North Valley Parkway, where the roadway was covered with floodwater. The coverage did not give rainfall totals.
A closed wash crossing is an ordinary monsoon morning in the foothills, but it still stops a delivery truck. Restaurants and markets that rely on one road for supply can bring in a portable refrigerated trailer before the season, so a half-day without a truck doesn't mean a half-day without food. A generator trailer is the other piece, since storms and power lines go together.
Fires
A Cave Creek neighborhood joined the Firewise program in March 2026 as officials called wildfire season nearly year-round
In late March 2026, Fox 10 reported that a Cave Creek neighborhood had joined the Firewise program, which helps communities protect their homes from wildfire. Arizona fire officials said the wildfire season had become nearly year-round, and the segment described crews clearing flammable vegetation and telling homeowners what to remove. The town's year-end update also mentioned two wildfire-awareness meetings.
Firewise work is about the house, but it never covers the walk-in cooler. A restaurant or market in the same hills should have a plan for what happens if an evacuation order lands at lunch: where does the food go, and what holds it? A portable refrigerated trailer is easy to set up in a safe lot or move out of town, and a 20ft refrigerated container works as a longer-term spot.

The Shops at Lake Pleasant added 90,000 square feet of restaurants and retail
Peoria is about 21 miles west of Cave Creek.

Nearly 103,000 out-of-state visitors came for the week, over 42,000 of them for the festivities without ever entering the stadium, and hotels ran at 90 percent occupancy.
