Pinal County paid $113.5 million for 1,400 more acres so Lucid could build phase three
In August 2022 Lucid, Pinal County and the City of Casa Grande finalized agreements adding 1,400 acres to the carmaker's site, bringing it to roughly 2,000 acres. The county paid about $113.5 million to buy the land from 14 owners, and Lucid will pay $7.1 million a year in rent for four years with an option to buy. Casa Grande planned about $7 million in road improvements around the site.
Land for a third production phase means more years of heavy construction in the middle of the Arizona summer. A 20ft refrigerated container in a contractor's lot keeps crew water and lunches cold through the summer, and a mobile kitchen trailer lets a large crew eat on a site that's miles from a restaurant.
Construction
Lucid said it would roughly quadruple its Casa Grande factory to nearly 4 million square feet
In January 2024 Lucid announced phase two of its Casa Grande factory, which grows from about 800,000 square feet to nearly 4 million. Governor Katie Hobbs said about 2,500 people worked at the site, a workforce that didn't exist five years earlier.
A factory that size is built over years and equipped over more. Each phase brings suppliers, installers and food service providers onto the same campus. A refrigerated trailer on site can hold catering for a launch event, and a generator trailer powers the setup in a staging area where permanent power isn't in place yet. For a plant tour or a vendor lunch, a mobile kitchen is ready to serve.

Renovation
The Terminal is turning a 1951 building on Florence Street into restaurants, bars and retail
The Terminal at 318 N. Florence St. in historic downtown Casa Grande is a redevelopment of a building from 1951, renovated in 2024, with about 22,828 square feet of restaurant and retail space around a shared community patio. In January 2026 Pour Therapy, a craft cocktail bar and restaurant, was planned to open in the first quarter, with a salon and a refill shop already open.
Every restaurant that opens in an older building has the same question: where does the cold storage go? A temporary refrigerated trailer in the lot holds inventory while a tenant's kitchen is finished, and a 12ft refrigerated trailer is a good fit for a small downtown lot. A mobile kitchen can host a pop-up opening before the real one.

Casa Grande approved a WinCo and industrial development near I-10 and Florence Boulevard
On April 6, 2026 the Casa Grande City Council unanimously approved, at its first hearing, a mixed development near Interstate 10 and Florence Boulevard with a WinCo grocery store, retail and industrial buildings. The developer bought about 600 acres in 2024 for $30 million, the rezoning covers 273 acres, and a final vote was set for April 20. Grocery and retail construction is expected to take a couple of years.
A new grocery and a new industrial park on the same site bring a lot of food-related construction at once. Contractors and suppliers can stage a 20ft refrigerated trailer on the property for crews now, and as tenants move in, the same kind of unit gives a new food business its first cold space while its permanent coolers are installed.

Hospitals can't pause meals, pharmacy deliveries or lab supplies while a wing is being rebuilt. Temporary cold storage on the grounds helps in those situations. A refrigerated trailer holds food-service stock while a unit is moved, and a generator trailer keeps it cold when power work calls for a shutdown. A mobile kitchen is a backup for staff meals.
Large events
The Pinal County Fair ran five days in March with free admission and a livestock auction

A five-day fair is a lot of cooking and cold drinks, with stock that has to last through each evening. A shared refrigerated trailer behind the vendor row keeps meat, dairy and drinks cold between rushes, and a dishwashing trailer is helpful for groups serving on reusable plates. For 4-H and livestock events, a generator trailer keeps cooling going away from fixed outlets.

Construction
Three industrial projects in Casa Grande added up to more than 500,000 square feet
In October 2022 three projects were moving in Casa Grande: Opus Development's two light industrial buildings of 153,000 and 173,000 square feet on 22 acres at Confluence Industrial Park, Southwark Metal Manufacturing's 140,000-square-foot plant for air conditioning components on Ash Avenue, and LCY Electronic Materials' 80,000-square-foot chemical plant in the Central Arizona Commerce Park.
Plants and warehouses like these mean big crews through a summer of construction. A refrigerated container in the contractor's yard keeps crew water and lunches cold. When a plant opens, a refrigerated trailer and mobile kitchen can serve an opening-day lunch for staff while the cafeteria is still being finished.
Fires
Three firefighters got heat exhaustion at a guest house fire with no hydrant nearby
A guest house behind a home near West Bartlett and North Overfield roads, outside Casa Grande, was fully engulfed on the night of August 17, 2026 and was a total loss. Four fire departments responded, relying on water-tender shuttles because the nearest hydrant was more than 900 feet away. Three firefighters suffered heat exhaustion, and one was taken to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.
August fires wear crews down, particularly those on long mop-ups. For a fire this size, a refrigerated trailer set up at a staging area gives crews cold water and food, and a generator trailer lets it run on a rural property with no hydrants or hookups. That way rehab stays close to the work and not a long drive away.

On the evening of Monday, September 1, 2025, a monsoon storm brought winds that knocked down power lines in southern Casa Grande, and APS crews worked to repair the structural damage the next day. KPNX reported on the damage Tuesday, September 2.
A downed line doesn't always put out the whole city, but it can take down a block of restaurants or a small grocery for hours on a holiday evening. A business in that spot with an emergency plan, such as a generator trailer and a refrigerated trailer on call, doesn't lose a walk-in over a line repair.
Fires
