The Pinebrooke Fire burned about 8 acres south of Florence and destroyed one home on May 22, 2024

The Pinebrooke Fire burned about 8 acres roughly 6 miles south of Florence, west of State Route 79, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and was 35 percent contained by early evening. One house was destroyed, and sheriff's deputies told residents of 12 homes in Cactus Forest to leave, then canceled the order about an hour later and moved them to "set" status. State forestry and Florence crews fought it, and stage one fire restrictions took effect the next day on state trust land in Gila, Maricopa and Pinal counties.

A small fire next to a rural subdivision still ties up several agencies for an afternoon. The crews and the evacuees both need food, water and a place out of the sun, which a mobile kitchen trailer and a portable refrigerated trailer can provide at a staging point or a church lot.

Four days of campers, concerts and late-night sets are hard on a food and drink supply chain, especially for the vendors working out of tents on a ranch outside town. A vendor group can bring a 20ft refrigerated trailer for shared cold storage, add a mobile kitchen for the campground, and run both from a generator trailer.

Florence's planning commission advanced a 2,465-acre Skyview Farms plan with about 9,975 homes in October 2025

On October 2, 2025, Florence's Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of an amended Skyview Farms PUD covering about 2,465 acres, with roughly 9,975 homes, 100 acres of commercial and mixed-use along Arizona Farms Road, 80 acres of parks, and a site reserved for an emergency services station that the town must find the money to build.

A development of that scale means a decade of earthwork, utilities and framing in the middle of farm fields. Contractors on remote phases can feed crews from a mobile kitchen trailer, keep lunches and water in a refrigerated container and run a generator trailer for the site office until the lines come in.

Langley Properties bought about 5,000 acres of farm and grazing land around Florence in 2021 and 2022

Langley Properties bought about 3,840 acres of farmland on the north and southwest sides of Florence on December 28, 2021, for a master-planned community called Daybreak whose first phase covers 563 acres, and 1,130 acres of grazing land south of downtown on January 5, 2022 for another, called Skyrise. The town will supply utilities for Daybreak, and entitlement work started right away.

Land deals this large are followed by years of surveying, grading and trenching on ground with no services at all. A land developer can set up a field office with a generator trailer, feed a survey crew from a mobile kitchen trailer, and keep water and food in a refrigerated trailer for the summer.

Guardrail and grading work on Attaway and Hunt was also under way, with chip sealing planned after Country Thunder.

A contractor can feed a road crew from a mobile kitchen trailer, hold water and lunches in a 20ft refrigerated container at the yard, and keep a refrigerated trailer option for the summer shifts.
